I hate to break it to you, but sugar is completely void of nutrients and when consumed in large amounts, it can be a threat to one’s health. In The Campbell Plan, Thomas Campbell, the co-author of The China Study, writes: “Increased sugar consumption is linked with higher calorie consumption, obesity, diabetes, kidney stones, gallstones, cavities, increased blood pressure, blood cholesterol imbalances, and lower intakes of protein, fiber, and vitamins and minerals” (p. 54, 2015). Go bananas! Delectable Banana Apple Chunks Bread
On Tuesday, I combined two of my favorite hobbies: baking and watching soccer. While watching the international friendly between Germany and Italy (4:1!!!), I made super delicious banana apple chunks bread. This outlandishly good bread is very rich in nutrients (Yay!). Most of the ingredients are excellent sources of fiber, protein, potassium and antioxidants, just to name a few. This bread is the ultimate guilt-free, healthy vegan dessert. Dessert? Amazing Jam-laden Hamantaschen
This week was Purim, a Jewish holiday that commemorates the rescue of the Jewish people from the merciless hands of Haman. Here is an animated video that succinctly explains the festivity.
Hamantaschen is a dessert that is traditionally served during Purim. A hamantash is a filled-pocket pastry that is shaped like the triangular-shaped hat worn by Haman.
